I wrote this for a Republican friend last night:
Twas the night before Election Day
and all through the House (and Senate),
Not a corrupt lobbyist was stirring
nor was the little mouse (in Tom Foley's pants).
Ted Haggard lay awake
as he tossed and turned in bed (with the Bush administration),
With visions of a ban on gay marriage,
while he received head (from a male prostitute).
Yes, all through the land
little Republicans slept tight (with their wallets),
Knowing that the end of tax cuts for the rich
was well within sight.
For in 24 hours
some sanity would be restored,
By men like Jim Webb, Bob Casey,
Jon Tester, and even Harold Ford.
The countless lies of the Bush administration
would finally be revealed,
And the fate of warrantless wiretapping
would at last be sealed.
So Dick Cheney's gone hunting
and the U.S. continues to fight (in a country that never attacked us),
And I say to you my friends,
"A Merry Election Day to all, and to the Democrats, a good night!"
